So I'm just getting into DJing and have a Mixtrack, a good pair of headphones, and a cheap $5 sound card for monitoring/cueing. So far as I've just been practicing, I've used my Macbook Pro's headphone jack as the output (connected to speakers) and the cheap $5 USB sound card to monitor w/my headphones.
I'm about to purchase Traktor Pro 2 and noticed that if I buy the Traktor Audio 2 sound card I can get Traktor Pro 2.5 for free. (Traktor is now $89; the Audio 2 is $119, so I could essentially get the Audio 2 for $30 extra!).
My question is: Would my Macbook's internal sound card and 3.5mm headphone jack be enough to power larger speakers for future gigs? Is there a reason (besides headphone cueing since I already have that) that I should invest in the Traktor Audio 2?
Thanks!
I'm currently using traktor 2.5 with a Denon Mc3000, I have the Denon driver installed and everything. However, I can't use my headphones, as when I press cue the sound is still coming out from my speakers.
My speakers are connected to my comp, not my controller, so for audio in traktor I have it set to ASIO. I can't connect my speakers to my controller as
1) i have no idea how
2) i've plugged my speaker cord into a phone jack and into the MASTER OUT socket L and tried R (on the back of my controller) but no sound comes out. I did this with switching the audio from ASIO to the denon soundcard audio, still no sound
When i change my audio from ASIO to the denon audio driver, with my speakers still connected to my comp, no audio comes out.
I tried connecting my headphones to my speakers whilst connected to the comp, nothing happens.
EDIT:
Also, does anyone have a problem where traktor just randomly stops responding? Seems like a big deal considering you never ever want this to happen..

Apr 28, 2010 Controllerists who also dabble in music production will want to consider the Saffire 6 USB or the Fast Track Pro, which both offer 2 sets of stereo phono outputs for sending 2 DJ software decks to separate mixer channels and headphone outputs that switch between those 2 outputs for easy cueing. Aug 13, 2013 Native Instruments has announced their cheapest DJ product of the year – a simple splitter cable that takes a headphone output and splits it into two outputs, one for a master out and the other for a precue.Essentially, the Traktor DJ Cable is a basic stereo splitter that then allows DJ software to send mono outputs to each split end.
